An amazing graphic and story from the NY Times via Lifehacker. Well worth reading and acting upon.

It seems to me that FB needs to make easier to understand what your settings are, what the consequences are, and, if you wish, to change them. I know that they need to pay for the service but I am sure that they can do this with an ad supported/freemium model. Their current approach is all wrong. Unless they change their attitude and deliver real transparency I will be deleting my account.
